"night shade"

search for love in every direction
broke your heart for a better affection
flushed pale skin on a golden face
kissing me harder for a bitter taste

i know it feels wrong
love never stays long
listening to that same old sad song
once i knew you, i couldn't save you
beds and bottles keep the trouble in you
whispers drizzled summer wine
tears and fears that go with time
i know you wished you could be mine
folded note wrote half past nine

tracing bodies mapped with stars
your little life behind twelve bars
courter's touch in the backs of cars
dream a dream that's yours for hours

i know it felt wrong
love never stays long
listening to that same old sad song
once i knew you, i couldn't save you
beds and bottles keep the trouble in you
whispers drizzled summer wine
tears and fears that go with time
i know you wished you could be mine
but that note's old
tatter and fold
i let it go...

lay in your bed while you drink about me
soft in soft light faint sigh and gently

night shade rooms and the books that you've read
keep the sun from shining, left your lovers dead
wax and wane in idyllic slang
let the pages rest, leave your moon to hang

bleed your heart to a tender pull of a lever
fade into the night and forget me forever
